ABOUT

Why we use wired headstages

Connecting the headstage with wires/cables has several advantages:

  • using the pre-amplified signal from headstage allows use of analog filters and signal conditioners
  • supply with ±12V allows higher pre-amplification and improves signal-to-noise ratio
  • supply with ±12V allows patch clamp recordings on freely moving animals
  • using no batteries allows recording for longer periods of time
